i love it, I FUCKING LOVE IT. best fucking enemies to lovers book i’ve ever read.

4.5 stars
This book was so GOOD!!

4.5 Stars!

I loved Jason and his mean, mean ways! But, there were a few things that kept me from giving this book 5 stars.

SpoilerNear the end, I didn't like the fact that Jason's inner thoughts did not reflect his supposed great love for Felicity, not even a little. When we were in his head, he gave no indication that he loved Flick at all, much less enough to risk football, the only thing he cared about for the majority of his life. I mean, he was furious she had applied to UPenn; that he might be forced to see her around campus. And why did he tell Asher he could have her? Call her his sloppy seconds? Tell Cam she was fair game to anyone who wanted her? That wasn't to protect her. Not when it was only his friends there to hear him. Later, it just seemed like the author was just trying to pull a bait & switch on us, with the whole, "See? He loved her all along! He was just trying to look out for her!". Like when a murder mystery writer intetionally hides some of the clues, or they springs a brand new character on you as the murderer, and then says, "Ha! I bet you didn't guess that!". Well, of course we didn't! We were tricked! That's kinda cheating.

There was also some disappointment for me at the end, because Jason's behavior did a complete turn around. He went from this angry, morose, intolerant dick - to sweet and playful, willing to express his tender feelings repeatedly, no matter who was around. It just didn't feel consistent with who he was, who he had been since the previous book. It didn't feel like a realistic change, but more like a Hollywood teen rom-com ending. (The author even stole some lines from 10 Things I Hate About You for that teen angst feel.) I like for the hard, gruff anti-hero to soften some, but not so much that he no longer resembles the man he was before. After all, it was him we all fell for.

And we were left with loose ends. What happened with Thatcher? Or with Jace's threat to Jenna? Hopefully those things will be answered in the next and final book, The Harder You Fall, which will be Asher's and Mya's story.

Totally enjoyed this one. Jason was such a dick. But damn if I didn’t love him! I love a misunderstood, asshole that just wants to escape with girls, drinks and a sport. Football, HELL YES. Gah he was such a jerk at times and then he would peel back the layers and show his true self and I would yell ENDGAME. I am addicted to this series, waiting with baited breath for the next one. Bring it. Wooohooo

This is book #2 in the Rixon Raiders series, and it’s about Jason & Felicity. We met both of these characters in book #1. Jason is Hailee’s stepbrother & Felicity is her best friend.

Jason’s main priority & focus has always been football. As the star quarterback & captain of the Rixon Raider’s football team, in a town obsessed with football, he feels the weight of the world on his shoulders. He’s known as a playboy & girls have never been a problem for him. That is until Felicity starts to get under his skin & he can’t seem to stay away from her. She’s the complete opposite of the girls he’s used to & the biggest distraction he doesn’t need. So what happens when he’s put in a position where he might have to risk everything he’s ever wanted for the girl he thought he hated?

I’m not going to lie, I was nervous going into this book. Only because I absolutely hated Jason in book 1. He was such a selfish jerk, I really didn’t see him winning me over. But boy did he ever!! His personal growth was amazing & how much he truly cared for Felicity & really put her first was so dang sweet to read.

Okay, yes, like I liked this book. But I have nothing else to say about it.
My favorite book of all time is Enemies by Tijan, and this book is nowhere near it on the scale. But I liked it, so it gets three stars.

I knew Jase’s fall would be epic but OMG

I honestly thought Cameron would be hard to replace as my number Raider, but Jase has absolutely stomped all over him and demanded that number one spot. He starts out as a complete jerk who is horrible to mostly everyone even his friends at times, but he did care about them and somewhat Hailee now. Jase was completely goal driven and has his sights on accomplishing them all and nothing else matters or will get in his way. All he has ever known was football and becoming the best and doing the things his dad never got to do. I loved that he was hardworking and focused, but it did take away from his life and added so much pressure onto his shoulders, you could tell it was hard for him at times to be the golden boy all the time and never getting to just be himself. Felicity was a do gooder, always following her mom and dad’s plans for her future and never stepping out of line until her senior year and she starts to step out of her shell, then becomes attracted to Jase. Jase and Felicity have such an amazing chemistry and they love/hate each other at times but you just know they are perfect for each other. They had a lot of drama to overcome, Jase had to learn that sometimes it was ok not to be one hundred percent focused on football all the time and Fee had to learn that she should step up and start doing things and thinking for herself. There were moments that I absolutely wanted to smack the crap out of Jase, then moments I wanted to just hug him and tell him he didn’t need to put so much pressure on himself and love him. I was proud when Felicity started making decisions for herself and I loved that no matter what Jase had said or put her through she still couldn’t help but love him. Jase proved a million times over that no matter how much him and Fee fought or had issues he only ever always had her wellbeing in mind. This is a great somewhat bully read that these two characters will melt your heart and Jase will definitely demand to steal it.

I wanted to hate Jason at first, he was such an arrogant ahole, but as the story went on you can tell he’s just a guy who needs to figure out his life.

"Jason Ford was a beautiful disaster waiting to happen. And I was right in the eye of the storm."

Yeah he was.
My first impression of Jason probably had to be the worst out of all the characters in this series. I absolutely loathed him in the first book. Loathed. I even questioned if I wanted to read this book and just skip to Asher's story.

Boy was I wrong. So. So. SO. Wrong.

Jason, QB1, more focused on a lasting career in sports than a serious relationship. Take what he wants from whomever he wants. Ultimate high school playboy.

Felicity, the quiet girl who's best friends with Jason's step-sister. She has a bucket list for her last year of high school. An actual bucket list that she keeps and checks off.

Another book filled with more drama than the first. Is that even possible? It is. A lot of angst. A lot of wtf moments. But worth it to see the journey they take.
