Funny and hot

Hot and funny. I will be laughing about needing to wear a bra in cold weather to prevent injuries for a while. Great story. Off to read book 2. And thanks for making the books not epic length. I want a fun story, not a lifetime commitment.

Look. I liked the plot line of Dot moving to town and getting the coven back together. I liked her two boyfriend situation.

My gripe was more how easy everyone loved and accepted her. How there was all gratitude and smiles for all her actions towards the community and the individuals. She and the other characters were TOO perfect! There was no abrasion or resistance, and very little tension to be found outside the murder plot line. I think perhaps the story needs some grit? But as is, if you’re looking for a lighthearted non-committal read, this works. Still on the fence if I’m continuing the series.

Not bad.

Read

This a funny book. I love the small town and the belonging. I like that the MC is tough and that is the guys that need her. Very intriguing story line

Hilariously delicious

Took a chance and read this book. Holy hell the author is freaking hilarious. Really enjoyed this book cant wait to see what book 2 has.

This was an okay book.

In terms of RH, it was pretty typical, with the guys all loving the main character. I did like that the attitude was overall accepting though. The sex scenes were decent.

The general writing style was a little iffy, as it had places where it didn't flow well, or read woodenly. This was disappointing because it did have first person narration, which you'd think that would have helped with that. The editing could use some work, as aside from the choppy writing style, there were often grammatical errors.

The plot was centered around a murder mystery, with witches, and I've read tons of those. This was pretty typical, and didn't do anything new there either.

For a book of its size (around 200 pages) I can forgive the general lack of world building, although the magic was explained alright. However, I'd like more detail on the system of power within covens, witches around the world, and what other kinds of supernatural creatures there are. Fae, werewolves, and vampires were mentioned.

As for the main character, I like the presence of Josie, her best friend, and Candace. That was nice in an RH. However, I didn't feel like I got to know any of the characters, even the main one Dot, very well. Also, Dot seemed a little too perfect and goddess-like, which was kind of annoying.

I am curious about the whole rebirth of the coven thing, and what that means, and why it happened to Dot's coven. So I might read the next one, as these are short and kind of interesting, but there are also plenty of reasons to not. 2.5 - 3 stars.

I really didn't like the main character in this one.
The relationships felt awkward to me as well. I seemed like things would change out of nowhere, or the characters took something out of an interaction that I totally didn't see.
Definitely just not my style.

Such a well done first book. I don't usually read lighter books but this was excellent. The FL is odd but not too much. As such she doesn't get annoying which is a hard balance to maintain, yet this author does. Love the adult characters, love the plot, love the world. Can't wait to continue this series. Glad it was recommended to me at the time I needed a break from the darker reads I usually go for.
