John Comenius: The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart by Jan Amos Komenský

A semi-autobiographical mostly fictitious allegory tale that documents a pilgrims journey and internal thoughts through the nicely veiled pleasantries and purposes the world offers. Guided by Habit and Acquiescence to the Queen of the world-wisdom-, only to find the institutions he is disgusted with originate with her, he leaves to his heart.
Beautifully simple in plot and reading Comenius’ Labyrinth displays not theological cynicism of the constructs of this life but clarity to what they are: On education Comenius says:
“The first examination for each person what kind of purse, buttocks, head, brain, and skin they brought.” (Loc 1128)
I will read it every 2-3 years to remind myself how misconceiving the world is.
