Lovely and sweet text, Chin’s illustrations add lots of kid appeal. The Fourth of July theme is subtle, could also be used at other times. Highly recommended for ages 3-6.
Age: Toddler+
Holiday: Fourth of July
Just like pie, many things are for sharing: a book, a ball, a tree, too. The list goes on accompanied with intricate drawings of a group of children as they enjoy a summer day. One-two short sentences per page make this perfect for the young kids but detailed illustrations cater to all ages as they explore the various ways we can share. Simple yet extremely effective.

A book about sharing. The text is warm and sensitive without being overly sappy or sentimental. Illustrations are well-detailed and portray a diverse assortment of kids. And I do like pie.
This is a concept book about all the things that can be shared. What makes it so much more than that are the illustrations. There is a STORY underlying the list of shareables with distinct characters. Jason Chin captures people's expressions and gestures so perfectly. What could have been a quick read was slowed down as I studied every bit of every illustration.
Message received. Soon to be a hit with school counselors everywhere.
While the story is nothing new, the illustrations bring it to life. Love all the POC represented. Will share with my students. (See what I did there.)
About all the things you can share: pies, towels, sticks and hugs.
Such a lovely book about a summer day at the beach, with tree-climbing, running along the beach with a dog and your friends, floating a toy boat along a stream and enjoying a lunch at the park. Sharing is a theme throughout. Fireworks complete the day. Great for 4th of July.
Yes, pie is for sharing, as are many, many other things in our world. This book, with it's lovely illustrations shows a child all they things we do that can be shared.
