I have loved the three Pilcher novels I’ve read. However, these short stories fell a little flat to me. Reading them was a sweet way to pass the time but a week later I am writing this review and can not recall details from any of the stories.

Summer Book Bingo-Any Book
It was a delight to read this collection of short stories, I had almost forgotten the comfort and charm of reading a story by Rosamunde Pilcher. Reading this collection has reminded me that it has been too many years since I last read the Shell Seekers...maybe this autumn will be a good time for a re-read!

Thank you to St. Martin's Press for the ARC edition I received in a Goodreads giveaway.

Taking advantage of my temporary location by getting a library card in New location. Mainly I wanted additional option for audio & ebooks. But I checked out the stacks and picked up A Place Like Home. I find Rosamunde Pilcher to be quiet comfort reads.

I always expect RP books to be old fashioned but some of these short stories were particularly dated. She's just better with a bigger book. I felt the same way about her shorter novel Voices in Summer. She's an author who needs space. The ones I love: Winter Solstice, September, & The Shell Seekers are all 500+ to 600+ pages. They are so much better!

These short stories were just meh. But her way with descriptions was still there: "When I got up to close the window, I saw the clouds, scudding across a June sky of deepest blue, and the sea was a marvellous dark aquamarine, speckled with white horses. A most exciting sort of day."

Not a great read but made better with pain au chocolat and tea.

I fell in love with Rosamund Pilcher's characters when I read "September" and I read a lot of her novels.
This is the first time I read some her short stories and I think that each of them could be become a novel.
Even if the atmosphere is vintage and you can say that they were written long time ago the characters are ageless and her women could be the heroine in a contemporary novels.
Great characters, gripping plot and wonderful settings.
She was a master storyteller and I was left craving for more.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This collection of short stories by Rosamunde Pilcher truly is A Place Like Home. The novel equivalent of a Hallmark movie, this is a wonderful read to cozy up with this holiday season (and season in world history). There is no dark twist; only short vignettes of returning home, beautiful English countrysides, and falling in love.
Great for those who enjoy Downton Abbey, Hallmark movies, and general cozy reads.

This anthology of short stories focuses primarily on love. Not the hard-won and hard work type of love (true love at its finest!). This is love at first sight, can't live without them, completely life-altering love. All in just a few pages. The writing is well done, I personally just became tired of the repetition of the same story with different details.
