Excellent read

I found this book from an ad on facebook and I am so glad I did. The storyline is great and I adore the FMC. I'm excited to see how the story will progress between her and the male MC. I would recommend this book to anyone that love supernatural stories.

I feel like we strayed from the plot a little too much but it was cute

** ARC provided in exchange for an honest review **
The main character in this book is Piper, she is a bounty hunter in a dystopian world that was ravaged after the magic wars. Supernaturals took over the world and humans became second class citizens.
Piper accepted a mission to kill an entire coven of witches, for her boss, before they can summon a Demon. But she has her own personal goals for this mission...

Piper is a great character, even though she's rough and can be an asshole - her words, not mine. I really liked the growth of her character that I was beginning to see over the course of the book.

I had no real expectations going into reading this book and ended up really really liking it and wanting to know what was happening to these characters. I'm definitely invested now and will be reading the next book as soon as it is available.
The romance is very much a slow burn and definitely falls under the enemies to lovers category. I can't wait to see Piper and Ronan's relationship evolve.

Here are just some little things that I noticed but that didn't make me like the story any less:
I noticed Continuity errors where a person's eye color changes from one page to the next or another where a kick suddenly became a headbutt in the recollection of the MC. One character didn't have a hair color mentioned, which made it somewhat more difficult for me to imagine him.
But as I said those were minor things that didn't subtract from the story.

All in all, I would definitely recommend reading Touched by Fire because it's a great mixture of dystopian fiction and Urban fantasy with a kick ass first, ask questions later heroine.

When it comes to fantasy/urban fantasy, I tend to get lost in the world-building, but Kel did a great job giving us just the right amount. I'll have to do the ebook for a re-read since I'm sure I missed some things in translation.

I'm quite the fan of Piper, she's a bit of an anti-heroine aka a kind of character I haven't read before. It's vastly different and while it won't work for everyone, but it worked for me. No doubt she's a bada** and can hold her own, but she's a bit of a jerk. We've read a lot of heroes like this and we tend to love them, So I'm totally here for the role reversals ;-)

Overall, I thought this was a solid start to this series, I can't wait to dive in even deeper. I wish we got to see more of the hero, but we got a few more books to go, so I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Seriously, I'm so glad I found this author this year, ready for more!

This is a great example of a book that is fast-paced enough to keep my attention, and therefore entices me to continue with the series. This is not as good as Kit Rocha's Mercenary Librarians or any Ilona Andrews, but it is similar in enough ways that I find it enjoyable. I raced through it, and I will likely finish the series.
