Mr. Smithfield is a standalone contemporary romance by Louise Bay. It is told from both points of view and has with a happy ending. Genre: contemporary romance Trope: nanny/roommates romance | single dad | age gap
Gabriel Chase is a stoic, hardworking lawyer whose top priority is his daughter. He has no room for women, nor the inclination to seek a relationship especially after his ex-wife shattered his heart. He only needs a nanny to help with his daughter. But can he resist Autumn’s eternal sunny disposition?
This book as a whole is hot and intense, well written with a lot to like, especially the sexy alpha hero. However, I felt a bit lost, as if I had jumped into the middle of the story where the main characters already knew each other and they were settled together. Since this is my first book by this author I wondered if there was a prequel I’d missed.

E claro nesse meio tempo ela vai embora.

I really enjoyed Autumn's story. Ever since the last book where her sister fell in love with Dexter I wanted to learn more about Autumn. Her character was highly interesting. She is so full of life and positive energy, you can't help but want to learn more about her. I was not disappointed with her story at all.
Autumn is a beautiful person inside and out. She uses a sunny disposition to cover up the grey clouds of despair, always trying to see the better side of every terrible situation. When her and Gabriel meet in the last book, it was like an invisible thread pulling their souls together instantly. Together they compliment each other and have amazing chemistry. Add in Ms. Bethany and you have a beautiful and perfect love story.
Overall the book is an amazing and fun read. It is not only sweet and enduring, it is dirty and sinful. It is the perfect mix of sweet and naughty.
The characters in these books are fun and highly entertaining. I can't wait to read more.

Mr. Smithfield is the third book in Louise Bay’s Mister Series and it follows the story between grumpy lawyer, Gabriel and the nanny to his 4 year-old daughter, Autumn, who is also his best friend’s sister in law. Gabriel is a workaholic and therefore works very long hours. Autumn followed her sister to London, found an internship in a financial firm but had to resort to nannying when the economy delayed said internship.
Autumn is the absolute optimist and has her life ahead of her. She planned to travel in between being a nanny and starting her internship. Gabriel just wants to make the best life for his daughter, until that is, he couldn’t deny his attraction to Autumn any longer. Gabriel makes the move which Autumn reciprocates. They start a relationship, being very careful around Gabriel’s daughter, but then the past comes back to threaten it all.
This is not my first Louise Bay book but I did not read the previous Mister books in the series prior to reading this one, and I did not feel lost. It’s a true stand-alone in that respect. It was written so well and when the plot thickened, I could not put the book down. My heart hurt for them; but it also warmed to see their relationships with their friends, siblings and kid. Being stuck at home due to COVID, I lived vicariously through Autumn in her European adventure. It was a great story, and I loved how everything revolved around Bethany, as it should in this kind of story.

I really enjoy this series of standalones by Ms. Bay! I love the premise of an American girl finding her way in England. It's like I learn a bit more about everyday life in England in each book I read!
This is Gabriel and Autumn's story.
Gabriel is adjusting to life as a single dad. He has been blindsided by his wife leaving and for the past few years has built up walls around himself and his daughter to make sure nothing will happen again.
Autumn is the nanny, but she is so much more! She is a friend, she is a confidant and she brings life and color to the gray world that Gabriel finds himself living in.
This is the story of how being in love means having to let go, to see if that love is true and lasting. I admired Autumn's strength to make the choices she did to ensure that what she wanted in her future was truly what she needed.
The dialogue is witty and fresh, and the secondary characters (which you will recognize if you have read any of her past books) bring a depth and levity to the story when needed.
Visiting England is on my bucket list and Ms. Bay's stories just make it move up my list just a bit faster!

***AUDIOBOOK***
The steam was impeccable. The accent was delicious.
Overall, the storyline was a bit predictable, but I really liked them as a couple. Plus, a little kid makes everything so much more adorable.
I definitely enjoyed this newest standalone from Louise Bay.

This was a great story!
Autumn was so positive and upbeat and I liked that she tried to find the good in all that went bad. Gabriel needed a positive influence in his life. Although Gabriel was right when he told her that sometimes you have to feel the bad. I think it was very strong and brave of her to leave Gabriel alone so he could make decisions about their future without her around to muddy the waters. She was one tough cookie that’s for sure.
Gabriel was all work and no play. He had no intention of ever being in another relationship after his wife just up and left him, and the only woman in his life was his daughter. He was a good father and that was all he needed. But he was missing that spark that Autumn brought in to his life. Once she started breaking down those walls he was a different person. Coming home early from work, sharing what was behind his secret door, thinking about a future with a new woman. And boy was he a sexy talker behind closed doors.
This story was also seriously hot, hot, hot. These two could not keep their hand off each other. They tried to resist in the beginning, but when the chemistry is there you can’t help but give in.
Really good story with a fun cast of characters.
